Brannin Dorsey: Chair
Brannin Dorsey, a California native and lifelong Democratic, lives in Fremont and has been a teacher for the Fremont Unified School District for the past 16 years. She has been active in her local union serving on the bargaining team, organizing team, and on the executive board since 2002. Brannin served as president from 2009-2013 and led her chapter through unprecedented budget cuts while maintaining a strong union and establishing a strong working relationship with district leadership. She joined the Tri-City Dems in 2012 and worked actively to pass Prop 30 and defeat Prop 32. In November of 2012 she was named the “Champion of Education” for Assembly District 20 by then Assemblymember Wieckowski. In 2013 the California Teachers Association awarded Brannin the prestigious Ted Bass “Teacher in Politics” for her relentless involvement in politics. In January of 2014 she was appointed to the Fremont Planning Commission. Not only does Brannin work for local democrats and progressive issues she has served on the Resolution Committee for the California Democratic Party since 2013. When not working on politics, teaching, or for her union Brannin and her husband Tom attend all of their son’s basketball and baseball games. She loves the Warriors, Giants, dogs, and teaching first grade.
